Situational Awareness Statement # 1: Strong to Damaging Winds Possible Today

Incident or Event Overview

The National Weather Service (NWS) is forecasting strong to damaging winds to impact Massachusetts this afternoon and tonight. Maximum wind gusts are expected to reach 40-50 mph, centered across Cape Cod, southeastern MA, Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket, and portions of Berkshire County. Timing for the winds will start around 1 pm today through 1 am Tuesday, December 7th.

Seasonable temperatures return Tuesday. Potential for accumulating snowfall Wednesday into Thursday. Currently, uncertainty remains high in storm track and storm total snowfall.
