FACILITY SAFETY TRAINING TOPICS – HAZMAT:

OSHA’s HazCom Standard &Right To Know (RTK) are designed to ensure that information about work hazards and associated protective measures are disseminated to workers and employers. All employers with hazardous chemicals in their workplace must: prepare and implement a written hazard communication program, ensure that all containers are labeled, provide access to Material Safety Data Sheets/Safety Data Sheets and Personal Protection Equipment; and provide an effective training program conducted annually for all potentially exposed employees. Right to Know trainings are now combined with our Global Harmonization System (GHS) trainings. This combined course will be a part of the annual refresher on a permanent basis. Right to Know/GHS is a FREE two hour course that offers Registered Sanitarian and OEMS credit from a BCREPC instructor.
(2 hours)

This training outlines the requirements and practices for the management of PPE to assist with the correct selection of PPE for the job! This course covers PPE supply, use, replacement, maintenance, training, and storage. (2 hours)

This training expands and amplifies the EPA guidelines for spills of Oils and Petroleum Products in the workplace to include other hazardous materials/waste as applicable to your individual  facility. (1 hour)

This course has vital information about hazardous chemicals, their properties and health risks, and provides current FREE resources by which chemical products may be identified. Experienced instructors utilize the worker’s day-to-day routines to discuss ways in which we can prevent spills and exposures, observe and respond quickly and appropriately to hazardous material accidents and how to pre-plan and notify your first responders about a spill. (1 hour)

The Global Harmonization System was adopted by the United States on May 25, 2012.
This created a standard criteria for classifying chemicals according to their hazards and communicating hazard information on a new labeling and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) system.
This new system has been used in Europe now for 2 years, and is seen by many as more consistent and improved information for Hazmat pre-planning and response. Barnstable County Department of Health & Environment offers GHS training at NO CHARGE. This course is MANDATORY for municipal, county and state workers who work with or may be exposed to hazardous chemicals. First Responders/Firefighters are required to obtain this training, as the OSHA standard addresses this. Private facilities are also WELCOME to attend GHS trainings to learn this new chemical identification system. GHS Trainings are now combined with our Right to Know (Hazardous Communication Standard) training. The course will be a part of this annual refresher on a permanent basis. Right to Know/GHS is a FREE two hour course that offers Registered Sanitarian and OEMS credit!
